Recording PlayBack issues.

Hello Everyone.

Running Vix Hades 014.
Have Mounted and initualised A SeaGate 500GB Hard drive.
Has been converted to FAT 32.

All Programs Record Fine.
My Issue is Playback of the Recording.
Trying to fast forward or Stop the fast forward can take upto a Minute.
It becomes near enough impossible to stop or play the recording, when I want to.

Do you think I need to update the USB Drivers?
If yes, which one do I select?

Also i seem to be getting the "VIX Spinning Icon" at times.
Is this normal?

Thanks
Reece

Don't buy the above drive - Using any USB powered HDD is a bad idea they put stress on the USB port and don't go to sleep so either box or HDD won't last long. Go mains powered or large capacity branded flash drive.

Did you initialise the drive on the box? Have you set up the swap file on the HDD? Have you changed the EPG location to the HDD?

Above if not done will result in VIx spinning more than it should.

(By the way nothing wrong with Seagate either - I've had plenty of WD drives go belly up too!)

Thanks for the response guys.

The hard drive was formatted on the Pc using " Verbatim SmartDisk".
I might try it again, using a different tool.

Drive has been Initualised and Mounted, Swap file has been Set Up and EPG has been set to the HDD.

I decided to do a Clean Install of Hades 16 and start fresh.

This initually improved the playback.

I started to add some pluggins and change skins, then playback issue came back.
So Iv taken everything of again.

Iv tried swapping the HDD with another, but same issues.

Friend of mine has the Zgemma and using a Seagate Non Powered USB, and his seems to work fine.

I was thinking about dumping VIX and trying another Image.
Been recommened Egami, not sure if one can get this on the Zgemma though.

Instead of using >> or << to go back or forward use the numbered buttons.
1 fr 30secs
4 fr 90 secs
7fr 5mins
3 ff30secs
6 ff90secs
9 ff5min
Externally powered usb2 proven to be best

Also u could stick with apollo as no probs there.

Or try using cacheflush to see if that was issue?

Is ur friend on apollo or hades?

He is also using Hades 16.

I forgot about the numbered buttons, will give that a try in the evening.

Will also try cacheflush.

If that doesn't work, might just need to look at a powered usb.

I do find VIX very glitchy and slow at times.
I will try Apollo If its the best option forward.

You make an excellent point. I haven't tried your Open ATV image yet.
Will give it a shot as well.

I tried the Cacheflush.
Made no difference.

The Numbered Buttons worked well.
So I guess thats some good news.

But these VIX Images are doing my head in.
Iv also got an Xpeed LX2 as well.
Thats running Hades 18.

Box feels really sluggish.
Looking online, seems there are lots of people not happy with some of the images.

That's the one I'm using Mark!!
