recover deleted excel file *Please help*

Seeing the title of this thread, I was going to recommend Recuva (great little program that). If that has failed to recover it, then you are probably screwed.
When you delete a file from your computer it doesn't actually delete it. It just removes the file reference to it and makes that space on the disk writable again.
If you recover a file quick enough that file will not be overwritten by some other file.
If your file is not recoverable, it looks like you have continued to use your usb and this has overwritten part of the file you want. Therefore it is unlikely you will be able to recover it.
