Renault Grand Scenic radio code needed please help me someone.

My GF's 2003 Scenic has had battery removed and radio needs code. To complicate matters the radio display is dead / stalk is dead.
I've some experience in these radios/putting in codes as I have a 2008 Grand Scenic and have put in my code many times over the years.

The prev owner gave her a code of 6685 (sorry earlier typo I put in 6686)
When I put in her code - again I can't see it as her display is dead so I have to guess - using the buttons [1st button x6 / 2nd button to select + 2nd button to choose x6 ...] - I get a beep on my second press of the 2nd digit key.
Thinking it was maybe locked I've also tried leaving it for hours but again I press [1st button x6 / 2nd button to select + 2nd button to choose x6 ...] but as soon as I press that second button for the 2nd time I get a beep.

I've tried moving the radio into my Scenic to see my display but the electric connectors are different.

I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone has .. perhaps it's as simple as the code is wrong?

thanks masterskay62 .. Sorry that was a typo .. it is 6685 that I had / was using.
Maybe I need to find another 2003 scenic to put in the radio / see what's happening on the display. I thought that perhaps someone would have an idea why I'm getting that beep when I use the button for the 2nd digit. Perhaps I just need to find another 2003 Scenic with a working display to see what's going on. I'd love to know how the wrong code timer on these radios operates. I suppose I'm just working in the dark (in every way).
