Sat box not picking up tuners but i know the signal is there

Hi Folks

Ive already been booted from Ipab for asking this question so clearly its something I should know but don't so forgive me in advance

My sat box is not picking up the tuners on the box. Now I know the sat dish is working fine because my freesat box along side picks up the tuners on the leads so I cant understand whats happening with my sat box,

A lad on ipab told me to press a button ( say 0 ) and bbc west midland came on waking up the sat box and the tuners worked but now its happened again. I cant remember what buttons he told me to press.

Please does anyone know what the hell I have to do and how it wakes up the sat lines.

if I'm speaking double dutch forgive me,. I'm trying to explain something that ive seen happen but don't understand why it happens
 
YOU HAVE POSTED 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ISSUES,
is your box not tuning in, or is your box not unscrambling the channels?
 
Sorry nothing got to do with unscrambling, My sat box is not picking up freesat stations even though I know the cable has a signal. I'm not too sure where I mentioned scrambled channels but hay, hope that helps
 
what box have you got,?
what image?

you said not picking up sat LINES

I think your missing the point sorry, I restarted them a while ago by pressing a channel a certain channel which channel I cant remember.

This is something that I'm ment to know, Reflashing is obvious but I want to avoid the hours of work ill have to do
 
reflashing takes 30mins tops, including scanning for channels,
it would eliminate the image being an issue,
otherwise I have no idea, you need someone to sort out how you have your box set up wrong

No I'm sorry you not correct. Ive a lot of add ons and script on my box and as I said my box worked fine and now it does not I'm simply trying to understand it, You must not understand it either so your fine, Thanks anyway

Why have you can't you just back it all up if so reflash your box these guys are trying to help you if it was me I would take there advice no matter what you would have to do if you have a script if it is for iptv why mess around with tuners when you've got everything there and as for pressing a button to wake cables up that's a load of rubbish mate ive never heard of that cables can go into sleep mode

I have to say two of the contributors on here have been nothing but time wasters and the last "I wonder why" comment just proves the uselessness of it.

The command exists and all I was trying to do was establish if anyone know it. You don't. Thank you.

Guys, please try help out, or pass this thread by. OP, people are not trying to steer you in the wrong direction, you have got to presume you know nothing, and work from that baseline.

Now, you say you are not getting freeview channels - are you getting paid channels?

The thing with pressing one key to get it working sounds to me like the emergency key - if you happened to be watching porno, your missus/child walks in, you press 0 and the box goes back to channel 101 (BBC 1) and scrubs the channel history.

Do you have a paid line on the box, or is it just for Freesat?

The fact that it was working, and now is not, would suggest that something you did/tried put on has corrupted the image, that is why a reflash was suggested, it still is a reasonable suggestion. As stated, it takes 20/30 mins, not hours. You should make a backup of your box, and store it safely, then if a reflash doesn't work, you know, it's not the image, and you can restore your backup.

You say you have a lot of add-ons and script on your box - add-ons are easily restored, could you give an idea of how much script and what it is for? And what sort of add ons you have, we might get a better understanding of where you are.

Have you tried running the ABM, or ABe2, whichever is on the box? That would rule other things out for us.
 
I have just read your last post, I have deleted a pile of useless posts on both sides, and issued a warning. You have got to listen, and they have not to get frustrated - just ignore your thread if they don't want to help.

What moderator on here You how to do it? Then how were they arrogant?

Nobody is receiving any count from you. And nobody is bullying you.

I have given an account of what I think the button is, now you have to work out how to proceed.

If you tell us what you did just before this happened, it would probably be a good pointer as to where the problem lies.

You are frustrated that you cannot solve this, but getting adversarial just isn't going to help.
 
i did not do anything I'm aware of wheelo. I was prity sure it was 0 as well but when I press o bbc does not come on.

My current state is this.

My box a mutant 1500 is not picking up free sat stations. When I look I have no signal. I know the signal works because when I switch the cable to my other box it picks up the satellite signal so something has gone wrong with the box.

The last time this happened I posted a question on ipab and the user told me to press a button. I'm sure it was zero and then a moderator booted me as he felt this was common knowledge. This had the effect of waking the tuners on the box.

I'm not sure if its that as now when I press 0 a total different channel comes on,

I'm comfortable with reflashing but it takes time and if I can use the simple fix I would have been happy.

In a round way your confirming its zero but alas I was not watching porn so thank you
 
Is there enough copper wire out of the f connectors even though you can pick up freesat channels on a freesat box like strip the cable down and re do your cabling if not if it was me I would reflash the box and see if it is anything to do with the image have you got signal finder on your image your using
 
I'm not suggesting you were watching porno, I was explaining the emergency key.
I get that your Freesat box is working, and that points to a problem with the mutant - that is what this suggests to me too.

You can set the emergency key to go to any channel you want, so the fact it is not going to BBC1 is not an indicator of something wrong. I fully feel this is the function you are talking about.

If you go slowly through my post, I suggest running your bouquet add-on, have you tried this?

I also ask several questions that may help us address your problem without reflashing.
 
Hi Myrealnameis, I had a somewhat similar problem with a Mutant HD 51 (twin tuners) and I was getting kind of similar symptoms. The solution for me was to check if I had connected the tuner cables to the correct RFs and I hadn't. Once I connected properly all channels came in. This is what happens when you are connecting/disconnecting on the blind. What I mean is trying to connect the cables without turning the box around to see what you are doing. I'm not saying that this is your problem but at least that can be eliminated. I'm in the middle of another issue at present (epg).
 
Hi Folks, I thought id give you feedback. It turns out there was as I can only guess a break in the line. I have two lines and although I swopped them over when I moved the broken line I was making a connection so I only discovered by accident when I moved the box to clean it and the signal dropped and then came back.

The button I discussed was 0 and it did nit work because the line was brokem
