Satellite strengh

I have got my box now and will be setting up the dish. I have a satellite finder but wondered does this box have a strength bar screen like sky does just may help thanks

Menu / setup / service searching / signal finder.

or get an app on your phone. Which will let you see the the above on your phone
to save you shooting or running to see the signal


I should say this is on ATV. Vix I have no idea but im sure someone will say where it is

I don't fully understand these figures myself. And you don't really need to yourself.

but basically

SNR = Signal to Noise Ratio - which means signal quality
AGC = Automatic Gain Control - which means signal strength
BER = Bit Error Rate - which shows the error rate of the signal.

SNR should be around 100% for a good free to air channel like bbc1. All other channels should be at least 65% - 70% to make sure you have no problems
AGC - should be as close to 100 as possible.
BER - should ideally be zero.

Although a few of the above figures don't display accurately on cable feeds.

I presume the SNR percentage is based on the signal to noise decibel. (how much more signal there is than noise.) So if its displaying 16db and 100% everything is funky dory. You only really need to pay attention to the percentage figure. Its doing the maths for you.
