My guess is earlier hardly anybody had it on so the cards used on c/s where clearing loads of different channels football on ect. Now everybody's tuning in to the box office it puts less strain on the servers/cards so all is good.

There is a lot of disgruntled customers who have paid the full whack to Sky/Virgin who are having major problems with the channel. Lots of complaints on social media platforms.
