Can someone explain the purpose of flashing a box? I have a Blade 7000s and it came with the settings already on it for all the channels. I have managed to see the settings via the 9991 option as explained on here and was thinking of getting a 5000s box and trying those settings. Would I need to flash the box to enter them?

Different firmware you would probably brick the box if wrong firmware loaded. Check in download section for latest firmware etc, for your box

Boxes are usually supplied into the country as FTA sat boxes, customs reasons.
For blades that means the official firmware doesn't come with the 9991 option pre loaded
so the person you bought it off has flashed it for you.
Unofficial firmware needs to be flashed so the box has the extra features :whistling:
