Is it Virmin Pure or Virmin All systems?

Not sure it matters these days .. : I've used Pure and Ex-CW, cant see any difference. Do you know what area yours was before the change (from NTL/CW etc..)

I only ever put my network id in and changed nothing else - always done it this way and never had an issue.

Use autobouquets maker instead, leave tuners on anything you want
It won't make a difference what you set tuners to if you then scan with auto bouquets maker.

Yeah have my receiver setup this way and works well
