USB on Miracle box mini Hybrid

Seems my Sansdisk Cruzer Blade 16 GB USB key has become corrupt and will not format in my box or laptop so going to get another. Not sure how long it hasnt worked but pretty sure I backed up my image when I setup the box. Can I format a new USB straight in the box and am I in danger of 'bricking' it in the short term? Thanks

You should be ok in the short term, if you are unsure
switch the daily update of the EPG and ABM maker off.

I use 8Gb Kingston, they seem to be picked up on the majority of boxes.
