VM EPG query

Hope someone can help, am I right in thinking that a full 7 day EPG will be downloaded simply by sitting on the VM preview channel every morning?

Is there a certain time this must be done? How long do you have to be on the channel? Where is the EPG data stored?

Apparently so but you can do it any time - just choose a time when you wont be watching it so it's not disturbing your viewing as I think it's around 15 minutes.

EPG data is should ideally be stored on your USB device - you can check the EPG storage location via the menu though to check this.

FYI I tried this method in the past and wouldn't work for me for some reason so I just put in an extra sources file for EPG Importer and now it loads up a good 5-6 days worth.

Do you not need epg refresh installed to get the EPG from the preview channel?

I couldn't get on with epg refresh so use EPG importer which downloads the epg daily from source files like @ste mention.
