vm router and name servers

my mate has had his box for over a year, it suddenly went off and tried everything from reflashing it, changing cables and splitters etc still would not work, when we took it to mine it worked straight away, the only difference with mine was that it was in cable modem mode and I had my own router, he was connected directly to the hub, in the end we got an old router and connected it to his vm hub in cable modem mode, still no joy, I know I use opendns for my nameservers, so changed name servers to their ip addresses and bingo the cable dropped, it seems as though the vm nameservers are blocking certain addresses. server 1 208.67.222.222 server 2 208.67.220.220 opendns

You can change them on your box in network but heard they've updated their hubs again and put the isp blockers back on so check all off in 'my account' too.

You cannot change DNS server setting on the Superhub UNLESS if you set it to modem mode and use your own router.

have a look here m8

or cant you change it back to vm nameserver
https://www.whatsmydns.net/dns/uk/virgin-media.html
see if that works

I know that, nowhere to put alternate dns settings in, so changed vm hub to modem mode, put on a router between tv and modem and specified opendns instead of using virgins dns and it worked like a dream, was only getting channels 1-5 no hd previous, what I was trying to say is beware of connecting directly using a vm hub
