Which box?

    Hi all,

I'm getting VM installed soon and I was looking at the TM-Nano-SE M2 Plus on W.O.S until I stumbled across VU+ Uno 4K... this box can record up to 8 channels at once it says?

So, firstly are there any other boxes that can record 8 channels at once (or more?)... and secondly it seems like better value for money unless I'm missing something? Maybe I have overlooked another box altogether?

    Thanks in advance :)

Due to the FBC tuner it is one of the few that can record multiple channels the other is its bigger sibling the Ultimo 4k.

Would you need a line that is capable of decoding 8 lines at once though?

    That's my understanding of it.
8 channels, 8 lots of ecms = a few lines needed in Oscam or speak with your supplier to get an answer.

Personally is there that much you need to record?

A twin or triple tuner should do most people.

TM nano se m2 both tuners work of one line and cable in. What triple tuners are out there that will work of one line & cable in?

You do have a very valid point, I do sometimes stream to other rooms using Kodi + Openwebif (think thats what the E2 plugin is called?) so 3-4 would probably be ample but it is an interesting feature nonetheless.

Sorry meant same as TM nano where one cable works both cable tuners as it splits inside box.

Agreed, I like faffing and trying out new receivers.
I would like to see one in action, I must admit

Any ideas if I would notice much difference in performance between the VU+ Uno 4k and the TM-Nano-SE M2 Plus in "real world" usage?

The TM-Twin-4k triple tuner seems to be a contender too. Specs look very similar to the Vu if not slightly better due the DDR4 RAM.

Packing the latest powerful 751MHz Broadcom CPU (BCM7362) with all the performance of the original TM-Nano

Vu has 2 x 1700 GHz processors so yes you will see a difference

Push the boat out and get one of these

    Now that's the daddy

Am I right in thinking with the Ultimo + additional twin tuner you could effectively record 10 channels? lol

    Lol
Just buy the best receiver you can coftably afford. If your going to be doing a fair bit of recording or streaming to different rooms then I would look at a fairly decent reciever.
Something at £120/130 is not really going to do the job.

I use a Duo2 with triple tuners, one dual and a single and have no problems with recording, even moments when all tuners in use due to over runs or just all 3 on at same time.

Depending on which server your Connected to you could get away with using 3 tuners at once, but definitely no more.
You would need to ask your provider if using more tuners or risk getting cut off for "overuse/possible resharing"

Is it worth stretching my budget to get a duo 2?
I would want a triple cable, would that be two feeds required? Do I need to use oscam?

For a main reciever thats used in you lounge I would stretch myself.
Any cam will run on the duo 2

It's a great box, I have one feed into the dual and then looped through to the second tuner card (single).
I like the display as I can see at a glance what channel its on and whether there's recordings going on.
You can also use transcoding for viewing via the Vu+ app on apple or android devices.
