Which side is used for cable the right side or the left

This is the Xtrend model you want, it has two cable tuners. This will allow you to record two programs at once.
With a hard drive fitted, you should also be able to view a pre-recorded program off the hard drive, while still recording two programs on the tuners......

Xtrend ET8500 2x DVB-C/T/T2 Linux Enigma 2 Linux HD Digital Receiver PVR Ready

More expensive Xtrend models can have up to 4 tuners, such as the Xtrend ET8500 4x DVB-C/T/T2

I personally use a VU+ Solo SE V2 + external hard drive, to do all of the above ........

Vu+ Solo SE V2 Twin Tuner DVB-C/T/T2 Cable / Terrestrial Linux HD PVR Ready Receiver

Right just baught the VU-Plus-Solo-SE-V2-2x-DVB-C-T-T2 what type of external hard drive should I get.also do I need a USB memory card too.

i would say yes to usb stick kingston 8gb as i use it to store epg into and if i need to reflash box its stuck in the back of box.
biggest they do is 500gb.

I use a Western Digital 2.5in SATA 2Tb drive in it's enclosure, which is quite happy being powered through a single USB port. Get the biggest you can aford, but generally a 500Gb or higher would do fine......
I bought an 8Gb flash drive, but re-puposed it when I found that EPG and icons data seemed to work fine from the external hdd .......

The VU+ only requires one cable input for both tuners, if thats what you mean.

You already have the guide that I used (by bees ) that you asked for and received in a previous thread
