Wifi USB ? Amiko 8140

Hi Folks
Finally took the plunge and bought a budget box. Is it worth setting up with a wifi usb dongle or should I just get a very long ethernet cable ? There's only 1 usb port , Not got the budget for decent homeplugs or time to purchase before crimbo.

pair of home plugs better option than wifi, more stable. I use direct Ethernet cable under floor boards downstairs, and home plugs for bed room no unsightly cables
ps you don't need a powerful pair of home plugs 150 plenty good enough about £15-20 ebay

quick replies [thanks ] I'll ethernet it untill can get the plugs , will 500mbps work ok ? we've got very poor broadband speeds of only 3meg so presuming the connection doesnt need to be very quick for updates/epg etc

1mb is fine for what you need for the box, but obviously if you are downloading or streaming at the same time it will affect the connection to your box. Like other people say, powerline adapters are the way to go, wifi works ok but not the same as ethernet.
