What's new

more blocks on the way?

An order covering the 2019/2020 season ran out on July 27, 2020, but was quickly followed by a “sealed order” covering the 2020/2021 season. While that timed out on July 27, 2021, blocking continued during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons under the authority of the High Court.

Since 2019 the blocks have been in place, that must be why no one's watched any live epl for the past four years

The Premier League have had the blocking order for years, nothing has changed there really

"What we can confirm today is that just days after Sky’s injunction win, the Premier League also obtained an injunction at the High Court. Given the pattern established a few years ago, this seems likely to be an extension and upgrade of a previously obtained order."

Extension and and upgrade. I think it's a case of "watch this space" personally. I'm sure providers are ready to have all hands on deck this weekend when the super injunction kicks in.

its an upgrade because both sky and premier league now have court orders, previously it was just the Premier League. So now sky can block their own shows. A block is a block at the end of the day, and how many games where blocked last season? how can you upgrade a block? I suppose they can try to introduce a block that actually works

I've said it before, Torrent Freaks are just scare mongerers, they big up things all the time, this is no different.

This order forces Sky broadband to implement blocks, previously they didn't bother, VM didn't bother, but they have to show willing at the start of the season, one or two games interrupted and that's the end of that till next August

It used to be arduous with my 2nd gen Firestick, where the VPN slowed down channel changing.

On the 4K max with the VPN, just as rapid. So will leave it on all the time now.

As I said they been doing it to me since April.

Nothing to do with the new blocks then

blocks were really not a major issue last season at all 👍

in all honesty i can't see them happening for a while yet, if they are implementing any new tech i can't see them testing it until at least after the first round of games, then again i have known to be wrong 😆
