Have an old Asus laptop 2009 and might need one that works better , this one has an inbuilt page scroller to the right of the mouse and find it handy as no room on desk for an external mouse.
Dont download things to it as wifi is slow or pc has gone slow.
Forums and social media mostly and Youtube and using Windows 10 here.
So many names out there and dont want a Chinese knock off.
Dont need a mega buck model or games.
Some of the video i view laptop sound is so low and very hard to hear.

I would like a bigger screen as eyesight is not the best.

Maybe consider a MacBook Air? Get some good deals on Costco for M3 chip. I had an email recently where they were selling them for £700.
They are not the cheapest, but build quality and components are fantastic and the laptop will last you a long time. Windows laptops always get slower as they add more bloat to the Operating System with updates. One of the big reasons I love Macs

What size screen ?

Try Dell as they have a refurbished section and offer the full warranty on refurbished products. Hit and miss thou what they have in at any one time so have to keep checking.

Got my tape measure out and its 15 1/2 " ,did not think it was that big.

Is there a non external mouse one can use if you dont have a space to put a mouse on as forgot what it was called?

I am breaking this dell inpsiron 15 3520for an 81 year old and take it from me its awesome for the money. You should now introduce yourself to a tack pad and this one has that, scrolling is by 2 fingers up or down. sound is top notch, 16gb of ram, I get 325mbs on 5ghz wi fi near router but still good.

to increase pic size you pinch

get the 16gb ram one.

here is the link and check out u tube for a review

Last three laptops I have owned have been Dell.
Two Inspiron’s and currently have a Latitude and never had any issues with any of them.
Great support and updates.

You should say why you reject the DELL with 15.6 screen. Do you really need a bag, a mouse, do know that ASUS has only 3 hours battery life, sound is crap. I have handed over the DELL to an 81 year old and they are chuffed.

I forgot to nemtion in first post it will come with win 11 but as they had win 10 I was able to give it a win 10 look. it is on u tube.

The version I got has 16gb ram but keyboard is not backlit.

I will see if dell do a bigger screen but price will be a big factor.

cactikid, what does this mean "My Dell Xps does not get any updates on the Blue screen or Hdd"🤔
Blue screen of death as ssd possibly died as so many errors came up in scanning and was running XP from the olden days.
Older than this Asus laptop i am on.

I am using a 15.6 and wanted a bigger screen and more grunt but seeing mad prices that are out , battery life wont come into it as always plugged in and never moves off my table.
Modern laptops dont have the page slider on the side of mouse pad but may have to get used to it or add on a mouse externally.

If I was advising you I would suggest you get a 27" monitor and plug that into the laptop and if your old asus is very old then get the dell I linked. I use a 27 " monitor that I have mounted on what is called a desk tidy and have monitor at eye height, I used to do Visual Display Unit safety courses in my previous life and advised users how to avoid eyestrain and not make claims on the company etc.

Look at this one as a guide and go for ips. At the end of the day its down to money, pay a bit more etc You can get smaller screen as well but 27 is awesome and you turn off laptop screen

BenQ GW2790E 27 Inch Monitor, Gaming 100Hz, Full-HD, IPS, Eye-Care, HDMI, DP at amazon.

Some of the monitors are adjustable up and down and tilt.

No wont be using a monitor on a small tv table that i move in and out for use as it might topple over.
When i cant play YouTube videos on Asus i use tv 55"
Money is tight as now on a budget and had to pass on the 4K price on laptops and dont do gaming.
Cheers.

Was thinking nice to go new but plenty of refurbished units over on this side so i would get caught out on customs fees.

Might have another look just to see as 3 big electronics stores dont do 17.3 laptops.
