Iptv blocked during epl

I'm thinking of connecting to VPN via a mobile internet connection from now on. I don't like taking the risk of using my home broadband landline - maybe I'm paranoid.

If some issue happens with a mobile sim provider, you can always cut the service, bin the sim and switch to another provider. Not so simple with a landline.
You are being paranoid use a VPN on the device or home network and it will be fine.

Also I have found mobile data not to be as reliable as home broadband, speeds on mobile often suffer from severe fluctuations which will cause buffering.
Hmm, yes I did wonder about that. I do have friends, however, that have remarkably stable mobile connections using a dedicated mobile 4G/5G router with an unlimited data plan. It actually seems higher speed and more stable than most landline broadband connections I've seen, so I'm not sure why on a top notch mobile connection run via VPN there would be much (if any) difference to a landline broadband connection run via VPN.

I had a home broadband which gave me around 20mbps and a unlimited mobile with a full signal (I can see the mast from my window) this gave me about 100mbps, the 20 mbps home broadband was solid it didn’t buffer at all, I thought my mobile connection would be fine to use as it was about 100mbps but found it would buffer frequently. When I run a few speed tests I noticed the speed was very much up and down.

I am not sure if there is a contention ratio on these connections to 4g/5g home broadband routers, like they have on typical home broadband to make sure of a solid connection, but give it a try on your mobile and let us know how it goes.

That’s definitely good to know! I’m definitely really interested to see how it runs on a mobile connection now. The likes of streaming NOW TV have never given any significant buffering issues when run over a mobile connection so I kind of presumed this would also be the case for IPTV.

Can I jump on this thread. I've been switched from BT Internet to EE and now im getting ISP blocks. The new router is smarthub sh32b. Is anyone aware of any kind of shielding or setting i can disable? Thanks in advance.

You could try turning off the EE web protect and parental controls

You can manage these services using the EE app for Apple or Android.

How to use Web Protect

  1. Open the EE app
  2. Select Manage from the bottom menu
  3. Select Broadband
  4. Switch the toggle next to "Web Protect Off”

How to use Parental Controls

  1. Open the EE app
  2. Select Manage from the bottom menu
  3. Select Broadband
  4. Scroll to the groups section
  5. Select which group you want to apply parental controls to
  6. Activate Parental Controls by sliding the scale to the level of restriction you want, I would turn it off completely.

Yesterday afternoon i was playing around, put the phone into hotspot mode and connected fire stick to it. Had the best bufferless afternoon ever lol. Even had 4 streams on at once. :)

Thanks for sharing. That’s great to know - definitely think running over mobile minimises a lot of risks. I’d feel far more comfortable in situation being connected to a disposable (preferably anon) mobile connection, especially in situations where the vpn maybe gets a temporary disconnection (which happened to me yesterday when I was connected to nord vpn ukraine)

Just had main and back up sub go blank. Watching man city game no channels working not even backups. Luckily have a 3rd which is working on Sly sports 🙈

This might be an unusual one. I use a provider from this site and his service provides 2 servers. The main server seems to be getting "blocked" quite a bit over the past few weeks but the backup server is mainly ok - has been blocked once. I've spoken to the supplier who has been helpful but unable to find a solution.

Device - Firestick
ISP - BT
VPN - IP Vanish - tried multiple locations
App - Sky stream but have tried various

Downloaded the app onto my Android phone and it works OK on mobile data so appears to be an ISP block.

Any advice on how to get around this as the Main Server has generally been excellent.

I've seen the DNS option mentioned but not sure how to go about it.

Isp block can definitely happen but a vpn should definitely get rid of it so seems like it is the server. Should try on mobile data when it stops working as a test.

Anyone know how the blocks actually happen during football? Surely your box IP is still the same before, during and after the football. And so is your router IP address! So how do they know that you’ll be watching football so let’s block it but take the block out other times lol. Honestly, it’s mind boggling

I think they block any requests to the ip of the server, not your ip so to say.

A vpn should solve it, maybe try another vpn. proton do a free one ( not great speeds ), but see if it unblocks you.

Thank you for the explanation fellow gooner but it still baffles me why only when the football starts, mainly premier league or champions league. I already use VPN and don’t have any issues with it. Up the Arsenal

its because the companies that own the rights to epl etc, don't want you watch outside there eco system. @Arsenal123 😏
