Dish issues with f5s

So over this last week i have been having issues with my f5s. With the signal dropping constantly. I have seen other people have these issues but they tend to be because of using there box in conjunction with other multi room etc. My box is the only box connected to my dish and has been for 3-4 years. This is the only time I've had this issue with no signal constantly popping up. If had advise that is could be the power cable so I swapped this with my brothers who live in another house (who's box is working fine) and he tried my cable, I still received the no signal issues his continued to work fine. So I swapped my box over with his to see if the issue was with my box. So when using my brothers box I was still getting the no signal box his again was fine. With these test I received a signal for 20-30 min before the no signal box starting showing which is normal then I can get no signal for a hour then it will randomly work again for sometimes up to an hour. So now I'm leaning toward the issue being with the dish which is what has brought me here. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar issues and how it was resolved? Or what I can say to the satellite dish "guy" when I call him out so I don't get fleeced or what can point him in the right direction to resolve this issue? Or is there something more simpler I have over looked what could help ,e with this issue. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks for your time!

I have had exactly the same problem. In my case the heavy windswept rain had get into the cable connection in my LNB leaving it a bit corroded. I replace the LNB as a precaution and I have refitted the F connectors heavily impregnated with silicon grease. Works a treat

If it works randomly then it looks like an Lnb issue.
I would fit a new connector and resplice the cable at the dish end for starters.
Could be dirt/water got in and causing a random short in the signal transmission.

Thanks a lot for you're help! I was wondering if you have any ideas how much this would cost (new lnb & f connectors) to have someone fit it? I'd look into doing it myself but live on a 3rd floor and only have access to step ladders

New Lnb and connectors £10-£15 ebay.
Fitting would depend on your area, ease of access to the dish.
If reached by ladders then probably a call out basic charge of between £40-£50 dependant upon region ?
You need to get quotes really.

Brilliant thanks for you're help, can get some quotes just so I have an idea of the price range. Thanks man!
