Not got a vpn so I can't try that but could be a option thanks and what's nanny settings not sure what 2 check on router

Can’t you teether off your phone to stick? That way if it works then you’ll know it’s your ISP blocking the stream and you’ll need a vpn mate

Parental control on your account.

  • Access your Sky account: Go to sky.com and sign in using your Sky ID (username) and password.

  • Navigate to your account settings: Look for options like "My Account," "Manage my Settings," or "Product Settings".

  • Find parental controls: Look for options related to "Broadband Shield," "Parental Controls," or "Sky Go device permissions".

  • Manage parental controls: You can then select "Manage parental controls" to access the settings.

  • Turn off parental controls: You may need to verify that you are over 18 by using your credit card to turn parental controls off.

  • Confirm settings are off: Once you've disabled the settings, you should see a message confirming that parental controls have been turned off

If you are unable to disable the nanny settings it's probably built into the modem/router and it's a new thing Sky have introduced in an attempt to curtail pirate TV.

A VPN may be required if this is the case

I've been told sky are sending out a new white router which has nanny settings built into the router and there is no way to turn them off. Its to block people using iptv. I'm having fttp fitted on friday and went with plustnet as I did not want to risk sky. I hope this is not the case for the member.

Can you not just use your own router assuming sky give you a separate modem?

Thats a good point actually, but as i have never had fttp other than virgin cable it works differently. I believe the internet does start at the white box at the wall and the router is just a router not a modem. I know my iptv provider sent out a message though about the new white routers.

Hi guys thanks for all the info and i do think we have one of those new white routers so i amy have to cancel sky and get a different provider if there is one available (its a new housing estate ) so not sure who else provides .

Do you have any old routers lying around? Could you maybe try an old router connected directly to the ethernet socket at the wall and see if that works.

Hi kegnkiwi , no i have not got one but now you mentioned it i will ask around to see anyones got 1 lying around
Cheers

Most Ont's will take any router you put on, some providers will need you to clone the Mac address of the Sky router. Easy done.
Yes i think i will need to do this when i move to community fibre. I love how virgin easily let you go into modem only mode and use your own router. Hopefully is straightforward enough when i move over.
