Openbox V8S - picture but no sound

Hi guys,

First post so go easy on me... :peace:

So I've got a new tele, a Panasonic 4K - and my Openbox V8S looks stunning on it - the only problem is there is no sound to go with it - a problem for most telly lovers I'm sure you agree!
I've tried it on another TV, and it works fine... so I know it's not a faulty box. I've tried it with a different HDMI cable, and in different HDMI ports so I know it's not that either.
All the connections are in perfectly fine, couldn't be tighter. I've tried turning the box on first then the TV and the other way around. It's a wired connection the the modem, so although I doubt that would be the problem that theory can be knocked in the head.

The settings on the TV seem to be set up to suit the box and we have an android box which is set up just fine with a HDMI cable, crystal clear picture and sound.

I'm thinking that my only real option is to use a scart lead and maybe that will solve the issue.

Has anyone got any other ideas by any chance?

By sounds of things you have done the process elimination and you can't eliminate any more. Don't you just love a brain teaser lol

Sound silly I know, make sure the mute isn't muted on both the tele & openbox.

Clickk the "Audio" button on the v8s remote and see what options that give you.
 
Don't worry, I've tried that with the audio, only gives me two options neither of which work.

And mute is one of those which people often miss, and to be honest it was the very last thing i checked! But neither the box nor tele were muted.

I'm at a complete loss, I like to think of myself as a half decent techy but this has got me well and truly stumped :)

Hmm, good idea.
If radio stations were to come on what would you suggest?

Bare in mind the box worked on an older Panasonic TV with the sound for the channels.
 
If that works, which it should(stranger things have happened) then i would try different sound modes on the parasonic tv, surely it will have different sound modes on a 4k tv

Where exactly will the radio stations be located?
And I've tried different sound modes on the tv but that's not worked!
 
Its a long shot but try the V Format button on the remote - different formats can lead to no sound or black and white picture etc.... - go through all the formats to see....
 
Only gone and fixed it thank god.

In the menu of the TV, in setup (not sound, strangely) I had to change the mode of the HDMI port from mode 1 to mode 2. Yeah, me neither. No mention of what the settings are on this but it worked. Bizarre.
