Hi chewy .
I'm in the same boat as you I have just bought the same box last week but still have Sky HD while I'm setting it up.
It's just a case of unscrewing the cables from the sky box and connecting to the Zgemma I don't think you can leave the cables still in the sky box.
And now mines more or less fully set up I've took it upstairs into the kids room where they used to have Sky multiroom and works great

Thanks, but i wanted to try and leave both boxes running side by side for a bit without keep messing with cables.

just out of interest how long did it take to setup, and what files/idiots guides did you use?

Cheers

I choose to install openvix instead of openatv as its smoother.
I didn't use a guide I'm on a Facebook group and there's a guy on there who helped me .
I've still got a few bits to get it right.
Do you have satellite cables upstairs already it may be best to set it up upstairs

The hardest bit i found is setting up the autobusquetmaker
That basically controls what you see on your EPG guide if you choose openvix I'll get you the link to the image if you want if not the images are on Zgemma.tv

Hi
Had my H 2S a few days now..Upgraded from F5

I would like to keep my Sky HD box running as usual...but also use the H 2S mainly for BT Sport HD to receive and record

If i wire the two sat cables into the Sky HD box...everything works perfect !

If i wire the two sat cables into the H 2S box...everything works perfect...receive and record !

But if I wire both together....First feed into Sky box...Loop out to H2S Tuner B (Top left)...Second feed from dish into Tuner A (bottom right)

On the H2S their is no signal on Tuner B

So basically I would like to wire both Sky HD and H2s to be able to view/record on both

I realise you cannot use both at the SAME TIME...one has to be in standby !!

Have ordered a couple of F-splitters to piggy back the cables as its the only thing i can think of to try after a week of pulling my hair out (if I had any !!)

Any suggestions would be appreciated !!

Thanks

I can't really help you as I'm still a newbie lol.
I didn't realise you could do that ...that may help with the ops problem.
I didn't realise the sky HD box had a LNB out !
Or do you mean the LNB out on the H2S box.
I would think you connect both to the H2S box as normal and then a separate cable to the LNB out on the H2S to the sky HD box.
But I think it matters which LNB you connect the cable to on the sky HD box I think it's the one on the right if you look from behind.

All sorted, just used 2 f type splitters and made up 2 short cables.
i can then leave sky box in standby

Received my 2 splitters and cables today then connected my Sky HD and Zgemma boxes

WHOOPIE !!!

Now I can

1. Watch and record with the Sky HD box as normal
2. Watch and record with the Zgemma box as normal
3. Watch and record with the Sky HD box AND record with Zgemma

WARNING !! Only one box can be on at the same time.....The other MUST be in STANDBY to work

Still testing this set-up at the moment but so far everything seems to be working fine

If anyone needs a link to the Splitters and cables just let me know or try fleabay

Good luck guys !!

Like I said if you run 2 cables to each box as there will be room on Lnb You will be able to watch and record on both boxes at same time and no need for splitters

Sorry Tich...Think I was a bit brain-dead when you said that in your last post

Although my system seems to be running fine now I would still like to know how to do it your way

Can you please give me a more detailed talk through with the wiring

Originally I only had 2 cables from LNB to Sky HD box....then what ?

Thanks

On your lnb on the dish sky normally fit a quad lnb as you have 2 cables from it to sky+ box Should leave 2 spare ports just run new cable from spare ports to zgemma box They will then work independent

Thanks Tich...Appreciated !!

Did not realize the Sky HD box had 2 spare ports to use and you can link them that way....I could only view the box from above so could not see them

Will try this when I get home

Thanks

Really don't fancy getting on the roof and running new cables etc

Very happy with my splitters set-up as above....and everything seems to be working perfect !!

Thanks guys for all your help though !!...Appreciated !!....have learnt a lot from this site in the last week :woohoo:

Marine7,

Could you send me a link to the splitters and cable you bought as will try that way first before I start climbing the roof.

Thanks
