What to do with my Zgemma H2s

Erodub

Newbie
I bought a Zgemma H2s and was using it to watch Sky for 2 months before Sky changed their encryption. Since then I have been using it to watch the FTA channels. Tonight when I switched the TV on all I could receive was radio stations. Being a person who knows next to nothing about these boxes I tried pressing a few buttons and I somehow lost the Sky skin but I was able to get the FTA channels back, don't ask how but they are back. I am not too fussed about the Sky skin as long as the channels work or I get it in the ears from her indoors.

My question is, is there anything else I could be doing with the H2s (besides using it as a door stop). My limitations are
firstly, that I know very little about how to set up the H2s and
secondly, my internet, which BT tell me should be operating at a max of 2MB, nominally gets < 1Mb download, < 0.4Mb upload with a latency of 300 Ms.

Any help offered would be gratefully appreciated.

still lots of channels left on 28.2e , the sky satellite,
if you are not getting channels like BT sports sd, or the discovery channels, then your provider has done a runner,
they may only be in sd though, not HD,

Thank you for your reply. I haven't had BT Sports or the Discovery channels since the change of encryption. I had a Gift line and when sky channels disappeared on me he suggested using iptv. I got a trial line and it didn't work as my internet was too slow. I only receive SD with sound, some HD channels have video but all have no sound.

edit your post and remove the server names

your provider has shut up shop and is trying to sell you an iptv line,
bt sports SD has always worked, it never stopped,
loads of channels still work, its only the actual SLY owned channels that have stopped working,

Your supplier was / is taking the mickey the bt and discovery channels have not changed yet

Flashed v7 on my box and set config
run auto bouquets and only showing some channels 18 in total all other menus and channels look transparent and wont work is there something im missing,
I have changed no fir just fta scan
bbc 1 etc wont work, I stll have old server mgcamds working with iptv but wont show any fta basic help please.
help us out,
are you using iptv,?
sat, cable, what box.?

thought this was H2S thread,
im using wooshbuild v7 on h2s and h2h
It has went from transparent to bright writing now still the fta bbc and that wont show only some fta will I have my mgcamd server running and not clearing, I haven't put my iptv on yet im just setting this up for the vpn addy in the image but getting errors
it is, but people hi-jack all sorts of threads, and you threw iptv into the mix
why would you have an cam running if you are only scanning FTA.?
have you selected the correct providers in ABM.?

Now to get back to my little problem .......

I decided to start at the beginning again. I printed out the Zgemma Basic User Guide from Foxman. I found the pen drive with the Wooshbuild V5 and cccam files and checked the cccam to make sure it read as I had been given. During the install Wooshbuild updated itself to V6, I think. Following the instructions in the guide I Backed up my settings and let the install continue. When finished I Restored the settings and did a software update (which I see I should have been doing each week but hadn't) and everything went OK.

I noticed that I could update the Wooshbuild to V7 so I started that including the Backup in the process. When it came to doing a software update I did that but when the H2s went to restart it wouldn't. It sat at 'boot' with the red light on for a good 30 minutes. I eventually powered it off and restarted all to no avail as it still sat at 'boot'. My only recourse was to switch the H2s off and flash it again with my pen drive. After installing Wooshbuild V7, I repeated everything up to the point of running the software update which I didn't do.

The H2s is working quite a lot better as I can now hear some HD channels, I have more channels than I had before and most of all her indoors is pleased that she has some of her favourite channels back. I still cannot get all the Discovery channels but the sports channels I missed appear to be there.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to those who offered solutions especially Sparkrite who pointed me to FoxMan's guide. It is great to have so many helpful people around.

Great to hear you are back up and running @Erodub .
Now, to your "stuck in Boot" problem, there has been a saga running over the last few days in the WB support thread, but to save you having to plough through it all ,basically, if you update THROUGH WB Config. it will bring you up to version 7.002 and all is well with software updates thereafter.

Well worth doing.
Cheers.

RE: your missing Discovery channels etc., you can get a new line by requesting here:-

They are very cheap now, but remember the remaining channels could go at any time........

I did the update through 'WB Config'. Portal, --WB Config--, Update to Wooshbuild V7, then let the H2s do its thing. When it finished I did a Restore Settings and then the software update - BLUE button, Software Manager, Software Update. As I have said the H2s is working good now and I don't want to upset it, maybe leave it until sometime her indoors is not around.

...... the saga continues

Contrary to what I said above all is not OK.

At sometime during the night the system must be doing things I don't know about. After doing the update to Wooshbuild V7 and the restore (but not the software update) I appeared to have all the channels except the Sky channels. When I switched on the TV on Saturday evening some of the channels had disappeared, making the H2s back to the way it was. On Friday night I had channels 101 - 105 normal BBC1 etc., then 109 W, 110 ChristmasGOLD, 111 Dave, 113 Universal, 114 Syfy, and so on.

On Saturday the H2s had lost channels 109, 110, 113, 114, etc. which is the way it was before your assistance. To get these extra channels (109, 110,113,114 etc) back I had to reinitialise the H2s flashing it from my pen drive.

The same thing happened today when I switched the TV on, the H2s had reverted back and I didn't have 109, 110,113,114 etc.

Can anyone offer an explanation as to why these channels should be disappearing.

As always any help is gratefully appreciated.

try flashing it with a plain version of OpenATV
at least that will rule out [or confirm] a dodgy setting somewhere in the build

Not as easy to use as wooshbuild at first but it is what wooshbuild is based on, once you get the hang of it then it becomes easy. Google zgemma h2s open atv 6.1 first result should take you to download on openatv site

You have probably thought of this..why not change your ISP.

I have a Duo2 stuck in my cupboard because my internet was too slow and the IPTV on it was terrible.

I got a zgemma H2s and it works great. However, my ISP has since improved and i'm thinking of reconnecting my Duo2.
I love that box.

I have thought about changing my ISP as I am with BT currently. My problem is that I live rural and BT believe that rural areas don't matter as there is not enough people living there to warrant putting in fibre for us. Thus we have a low speed broadband.
