Wifi Connection switches between WEP and WPS. Virgin Superhub

Good evening all!

I usually successfully connect my V8s with a wifi dongle to my Virgin Superhub 2 wireless network with WPS encryption.

Occasionally (once a week), when I turn on the V8 it doesn't connect to the network. My network appears in the list of available networks but for some reason shows as a WEP encrypted network, not WPS.

Restarting the V8 makes no difference. The only way I have found to deal with this is to restart my Virgin router. The V8 then again finds my wireless network correctly encrypted as WPS and connects successfully.

I know it isn't a major problem, but it is a bit of a pain in the backside.

Any thoughts?

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) isn't an encryption, it's a secure way of pairing your device to a Wi-Fi router. There should be a button on the router labelled WPS and similar on compatibles devices. WEP is the network encryption.

As for it not connecting, seems to be a router issue rather than your V8. Have you tried resetting your router to its factory defaults?

The SuperHub 2 is shocking from my experience. I got the new SuperHub v3 (the nice white one) a few months back and it's far superior to the previous iterations.

Thanks for the technical details. You are of course 100% correct.

I meant WPA not WPS. Probably makes more sense.

To be fair, I also think it has to do with the Superhub. Was just interested to see if anyone had this problem as well...

Didn't find any resources online.

Yes the router has been reset to factory settings... Multiple times. Quite a frustrating piece of kit.

What is the make and model of the Wi-Fi dongle?

The only thing more frustrating that the router are the robots that work in VM's international call centres [emoji17]
