Zgemma 2s can't connect to filezilla or dreambox control centre

Okay so I'm a total newbie and honestly don't know anything about these boxes so in my wisdom decided to buy one and add codes myself, got a download off ebay (I know) and managed to flash a sky hd skin and box works on freeview fine, now the problem is adding my n line i cant connect zgemma to laptop ive checked ip address on zgemma and via vodafone router manager and both are the same checked both zgemma (ethernet) and laptop (wifi) are on the same network and they are, I've tried filezilla and dreambox control centre and neither pick up the zgemma it's probably something simple I'm not doing or haven't turned on with the box, help me please it's driving me crazy.... thanks in advance...

In filzilla after you put ip address in did you put root in username leave rest blank and press quickconnect

No joy at all think I'm just going to go back to the old amiko box and chuck this zgemma in a cupboard somewhere I've tried everything and nothing works I can pick up everything on my network apart from my zgemma but when I go on vodafone connect router app it shows me ip address of zgemma and shows connected... I honestly give up.. gutted because i really like the layout...

firstly do a full reboot of your box. white button at the back.

Then go into network wizard. Under setup... system...network...device setup
Run the network wizard.

While in system..network... install samba.

Then go into menu...information...network..
and get your current ip address (it might have changed after the network wizard)

See if you can open openwebif in a browser.
i.e type your ip address in a browser address bar.

If you can your box should be accessible via fillezilla.

In filezilla
enter your ip
username: root
password: leave blank
port: leave blank or 21

if you are still struggling who ever sold it to you might have changed the default password on the box.

But as you have also installed samba you can see if your box is accessible via windows.
Go into file explorer (windows + E)
Click network - Wait until it's finished scanning. Hopefully you will see your sat box.

To see if it's in you're network and the ipadres you might install Advanced ip scanner. Helps you to get the right ipadres and if you have Openwebif activated you are able to approach you're box in that way.
