hi guys first im no good when it comes to tec shit so be gentleROFL

My box has started freezing all the time up to 1 min every time, connected to hub via cable(good quality) have the latest bt hub 6 fast speed 58 download 18 upload. it is happening repeatedly now and really annoying
Also the epg list takes days and days to reload when its been turned off if you go into the epg download its says its already in progress.
Any help to sort this problem would be welcomed cheers

The first thing to do is reboot everything. That's always your first port of call. Shut down your Internet for 10 minutes. When it is back up and running do a reboot on your box and finally restart your cam. That usually resolves freezing for me.

This seems to be quite a common problem at the minute and Ive just gone through it my self.
Do all the resets as suggested above. If that doesn't solve it then work out if it is your premium channels that are an issue like systemlord mentioned - to do that watch BBC for a while and then switch to a non FTA channel like a sports or movie channel. If only the premium channels are freezing you may have a line issue.
I ended up getting another test line and switching to mgcam. What that does is constantly monitor both lines and selects the best one to eases the freezing.
Also as an FYI even if your internet speeds are good, the stability plays a bigger part. If you have bad stability on your line that can also cause freezing
There are comments in other posts about some bad cache causing the common freezing problem if you want to read more into it.

Initially I entered both lines into cccam but was still having issues. Then switched to mgcam, did the appropriate file changes and had a much smoother run. Watched the whole of the F1 last night without a single glitch.
I dont know much about the differences if Im honest, just passing on the advice I was given which worked for me.

Oscam does better than cccam . Check your speed you need stable download/upload and ping. If ping is high that will cause freezing and usually upload is rubbish. I went to a friends yesterday that was freezing and his upload on BT fibre was 0.04mbps download was 20meg but the upload killed it.

so out of interest, which is "better" between cccam and mgcam? (assuming the box has two lines).

Might depend on what is considered to be better. I've always used cccam up until now without issues, but since the freezing and having to use 2 lines mgcam seems to be giving me a better result

well that's the reason i ask.
i'm currently using cccam with just one line (i have a second line that currently isn't installed on the box).
i get 3-4 second freezes maybe one or twice an hour (not at specific set times though).

can't quite narrow it down to ISP or line related.
just wondered if changing to mgcam with two lines might ease the issue.

internet connection is 14Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up with a ping of around 20-30ms.

You could do longer ping tests and check for packet loss which might show some issues on your internet line. Various apps available to do this making it nice and easy. I was doing runs of 200 ping tests.

Alternatively if you are nervous about using your second line (for what ever reason) just get a 48 hour test line, ideally from someone reputable, add it and see how you get on.

You will never be 100% freeze free, but its finding a level at which you are happy with.

i have a thinkbroadband monitor set up to monitor packet loss.... and apart from a day or so where ISP caused packet loss i have virtually zero.

no not nervous about using it, the box came with those two lines.
i just reverted to one when trying to trouble shoot the freezing.

would be happy with 1 a day, preferably at 4am :p

I was a little nervous about messing with mine over the weekend but it got to the point when I realised that Ive already built the box once, if anything goes wrong I can do it again.
FYI the freezing issue that I experienced and have been reading about are more frequent than twice an hour. Mine was happening every few minute. Also worth contacting your provider if you have the details.
Good luck!

hi guys thanks for the feedback.
like i said im not really tec literate whats the lines that are mentioned ?? i have done all the resets as above it is showing an mgcam in the system. As for freezing on bbc it hasnt yet while ive been watching it the signal strength it says is at 83% and my broadband speed is are very fast and stable i have an openbox in tyhe bedroom and have no problems with that it is running off wifi not hard wired.

A line (also known as a gift) is basically a link to a server. This allows your box to decrypt the premium channels. Presumably if you have brought a prebuilt box it may have come with a 12 month gift (or line).

If you already have a box that is not experiencing issues, and your zgemma box is only experiencing issues on the premium channels, then it suggests you have aline problem. This usually occurs when a server is over subscribed and can often be the case with the prebuilt boxes.

You have a couple of choices. 1) you try and contact the original provider to see if there are known issues. 2) you use this forums dedicated request areas to ask for a test line but I cant stress enough that you need to read the rules before doing so. When you find a test line you can run it for 24 hours to see if you have the same issues.

I know you say you are not good at the tech stuff but you need a basic understanding of the way these boxes work to start changing lines. This forum is filled with tutorials on what to do, you just need to find out what build is on your box which normally comes up when it starts. EG. mine is Wooshbuild which i would probably say is the most common and easiest to install.

cheers for that the box had a in line when purchased (24 months) just plug in and play and worked ok for the first month but now have the problems

That could be your problem then. Many providers will cut you off after a month or two. Even if you buy 2 years.
