I didn't know about a username and password on an openbox? Try going to ajsat and download the latest firmware then the upgrade by network should work after you've installed that.

When your box starts up with the openbox logo instead of skybox you have the correct firmware. Good luck.
You might of been sold a clone box then mate. Upgrade Firmware - OPENBOX® |UK Stock| that's the latest firmware from manufacturers website
Did you format the USB first?

I would load C Waites channel list, just google it.
If it's only just moved frequency and you want to watch Moto GP, yep, it's on now !!! lol
Do a single TP scan, here is the frequency for BT Sports 2
11345 H 27500
It will appear at the bottom all the "ALL" group.
and do the C Waites update later.

Hes running software over 3 years old on the latest box, surely it needs updating?
Can you just confirm that there's nothing wrong with the link I sent him as I think he thinks it's dodgy :p
There firmware won't be any different from skybox, only you'll have to unzip the file.

Firmware makes no difference, what does the new firmware do that the old firmware doesn't ?
Does it clear channels ?
Chances are you will brick the box, file mis match means it's the wrong firmware for that box.
Just keep your channel list up to date and your line active and it's happy days

Upgrade file says OPENBOX_V8S_NETWORK.abs?
Bees it clearly isn't the wrong firmware, and It's from manufacturers website so surely the safest place to get it?

Check it yourself, he said he's got an openbox V8S and that's what the firmware is for....
When I had a skybox F5S old firmware affected the picture, made it slightly glitchy and a few channels were showing no signal until I updated it, so yeah in some cases I believe it can.
