Ok ive now made the same screen that you see on sky when you press EPG/guide for us enigma2 users. For this to work you need to press EPG and then press settings. Within this page you must turn setting Show bouquet on launch to yes. Now everytime you press EPG youll see my screen, and then just press ok to go to the EPG/bouquet screen

Do the images ever update or is it manual?

Don't quote me on this, but as far as I know with gman's menu/epg mod it is manual and would need some sort of python script (which i would have no clue how to put together) for them to auto-update. i've used gman's mod and thumbs up to him its a great mod, but i have changed a few of the pics for my personal preference :



for now i don't mind using this on the epg/menu screens with those pics or original ones because at the minute it's just a look and you can't navigate around it, only open the epg
if you want to use your own pics you just need to change the images in the skyicons folder, just overlap the image you want using paint on windows or preview on mac and ftp to the slyk skin folder :)

maybe somebody who know's may create a python script in the future for it to auto-update, still a top effort from gman though :)

I have been thinking and i guess it's probably a matter of finding a Tv listing site that has like top picks or something and also has an API or an easily scrapable page.. then we can just do a daily cron job to grab those images.. the question is, when replacing the images, do we have to reload the GUI?

This page could be a good source, however all the images are off (size wise).. so i'm not sure how easy this would be..

I know this isn't a skin related question itself, however the latest build of VIX (4.2.004) was released today which included the added feature of enabling the service number, picon, and service name for the epg.

I've installed the latest build and reduced the service font width to -3 to fit all the text in, but there is quite a gap in between the channel number and the picon :



the picon width is set to the minimum (70) ; is there a way of reducing the gap between the two by editing a specific file ?

I don't think its a lastest build thing as I'm on VIX 4.0.1 and the gap is there. I've tried to reduce it the best I can but couldn't suss it, let me know if you figure it out.

You are correct grantdavey as they are manually changed, and you are also correct that a python script would be required to pull in 6 images for top picks of that day/week and to download and rename them toppicks1-6.png. The gui wouldnt need rebooted each time it ran, as when u press EPG on remote the screen just loads the images with those names into the locations on my splash screen.

I do like your images on the top section as they are more akin to the proper sky splash screen that i was trying to emulate. Woukd it be possible if i could use them on mine thanks?

Then Reboot your GUI

you will need to enable picons in the extras.xml

menu / setup / epg / both the graphical epg settings near top is display it will be set to service name.. change to service name & picon.. do that for both and green to save..
then exit all the way back.. then while watching a channel with no menus press up on remote to get service list up.. then press menu button then select settings..towards bottom is show picons in service list.. set to yes then green to save

I did have a look at that site when i was sourcing my original images, but the channel logos arent on the actual main image when u load just the image itself. So would need some extra work to put the logo onto it.

scrolling code maybe different for you because am using a custom infobar so you'll have to edit the positions and sizes to suit

That was the full text of the title what crossepg picked up why do you want more text? Sorry if I've misunderstood your question

sorry i tested it out there
its just the one you picked was the length of the box

i tested it on a far longer title and its scrolls good

but all you need it the code

just replace anywhere there is a title and this will make it so the text will scroll

i placed it on the now one two and will be placing it other places thanks
il see if i can add it two my xml file

i'm guessing it would entirely depend on how difficult it could be and how long it would take to get a working script implemented and working/updating without any manual input, i suppose anything is possible if one really puts their minds to it :)
