2 way Splitter Tivo box or broadband?

Am setting a new box up for my mate. He has basic VM TV and Broadband.

Have bought a 2 way splitter. 2 Way Splitter Kit for Cable TV CATV Starview NTL Virgin Media DBox2 etc | eBay

Is it best to split the tivo box or split the broadband.

My cable comes in from outside and then into a white box (don't know what it is) and then the cable comes out and is split to go to the router and the TV's.
I just changed the 2 way splitter to a 4 way one.

i swapped my 2 way splitter for a 3 way splitter 2 years ago and never had a problem

What I was saying is that the splitter in mine is in the main cable coming in, before it goes to TV or broadband.

If he has bb and tv there will already be a 2 way splitter that the provider has fitted that's why you need a minimum of a 3 way splitter, one for broadband, one for VM tv and one for new box
