Anyone been watching IPTV Sport without a VPN? - well your ISP will know all about it now....

There is a a website called I know what you downloaded.com. Here is a list of some of the ip addresses who downloaded the copyrighted film The Lion King during the lockdown without a VPN. This list goes on for two more pages of just this one film. Anyone recognise their ip address in there

But that would be for p2p downloads so torrents without VPN. Hence when streaming or downloading torrents use VPN.

Not an issue when downloading from file hosts/multi hosts or even newsgroups.

Well I've been watching premier league football for 7years now, so I dont think they are too bothered about watching a movie.

I don't think people have their heads in the sand.

Nor do I think people fear a solicitors letter about downloading a film.

In short
Your so funny . You don't get a solicitors letter.

Just like they cant stop people illegally downloading they cant with streaming either.

If if they shut down websites, platforms, services etc another pops back up straight away.

Some of the biggest torrent and warez sites were taken down but guess what you had something else to replace with.

They can send you warning emails/letters and threaten to take you to court but they will need concrete evidence to prosecute you otherwise they will fail.

What are they going to do anyway?
They send a letter and it goes in the bin.
If that's not the end if it, which it will be in 99% of cases, somone knocks at the door.
Are you Mr xyz? because you downloaded a film which is a bit naughty.
-no mate he moved out 3 months ago, let me know if you find him because he owes me a months rent.
Finished.
It's cost them £100 to send somone to the door first time around, all in the hope of getting a £200 fine, they won't risk sending a second person and does anyone really think the police are going to be interested in pursuing it? Not a chance

Thanks for wasting five minutes of my life.
That link was just a huge advertisement promoting iptv. Nowhere does it mention any new ways of tackling pirate tv nor does it mention any crackdowns.
It points out you might get ripped off, and that you might be hogging bandwidth during a pandemic, other than that it said iptv quality isn't as good as Netflix.

Its mainly scare tactics and scare mongering for most part.

No doubt a few have been prosecuted but that is more uploaders than downloaders/streamers.

The police won't be involved as it's a civil matter and not a criminal offence.

Still not following what your getting at.
Yes there's a few nifty graphs.
And yes I get that virgin, talktalk etc keep records for a year on torrent downloads but there's nothing they can do apart from kick you off the service, in other words, lose a customer.
There's not many if them going to do that

it's all bull

Yes, our traffic is logged but if suspected of streaming live footy they can throttle but not stop your broadband, they can block known IP's from being accessed which is why it would go black. two of us could both be with same isp and both watch the same match every week, it goes blank for one of us and not for the other. It's not because the users been throttled, it's because their IPTV feed has been blocked while the other users IPTV provider has not.

To see exactly what you are doing online they need a warrent.

Sites that @basejumper mentioned does not get this information from ISP's, it is either obtained from some trojan on the users computer or obtained from torrent servers etc.

Yes, I had loads of letters about my usage when I was downloading MP3's to burn to CD's back in the 90's yet never had any since streaming in the past 5 or 6 years

You were doing OK up to a point. But now there is a task force funded by Hollywood who are targeting end users. There is no point in me posting links if we are to get in a pointless denial argument

But the point is they can't access any information without a warrent, and how do you think they are going to monitor every user online. looking at my usage virgin dont know if I'm watching porn, netflix, disney +, amazon prime or 3pm kick offs,

I'm lost.
Are we talking about downloading films from torrents or streaming live tv?
What's the difference?
Is there any evidence that an individual has been prosecuted?

Not so much individuals.

But over the years providers and uploaders who upload to torrent sites, warez sites etc have been caught and prosecuted.

You just get a demand for money by email. Go to torrent Freak to see what is going on. Stop living in the past.
