had my vi duo2 with openvix installed for just under a week now and loving it to bits i am new to all this and learning so much by reading plenty of threads
i got the duo fitted with 1x Twin Tuner Hybrid DVB-C/T/T2 Tuner and it works a charm with my cable
i have been learning and tweaking the EPG and AB to how i want them to work and look and finding it pretty easy and the general layout of the box with piccons ect
the biggest headache i have was my xbox one was making the picture stutter due to the refresh rates but soon sorted it in AV settings

down to the question; recordings
i can set up the recordings easy and auto timers no issues there with the options to adjust settings
i have even set up folders for the wifes soaps to be recorded directly into

so menu, timers, auto timers
give me a list of programmes that are set to auto record being set day of period of days

but green button gives me timer overveiw
this gives me a list of programmes for each episode waiting to be recorded eg EastEnders Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday with details of time and date top gear Sunday date and time
so this gives me a more detailed breakdown of whats coming up to be recorded

i may of answered my own question here but not 100% sure so reason i am asking is the auto timer looking for the item as its setup and as soon as its found it the timer overvewiw confirms what its found and preps it up waiting ready for recording

as for some strange reason i am thinking auto timer is like series link like $ky the timer is a one off recording

also the icons can anyone please confirm what they mean green with white arrow and yellow circle like arrow at present if i have set my auto timers correct they are green circle with white arrow

i have held off asking this question on here as wanted to do it for myself or find a thread but can find an answear or i am just over looking it

next step connect my nas to it and set up tsmedia

cheers

**edited as it was a bit misleading that **

There are help files and FAQs in the autotimers menu. Just go into autotimers... press menu... then select your help choice.

As for the icons. Here is the file names so you can easily see what they are (these are for the slyk1hd skin so your icons may differ slightly)

Capture.jpg

white arrows - autotimer set
green clock - timer event completed
red exclamation - timer failed (probably due to no free tuners available)
red x - timer off (timer has been manually disabled)
orange clock - timer prep
red circle r - recording
yellow repeat icon - timer set to repeat event
black clock - timer wait
green z - zap (change channel)

I think that is right...

a blue circle with a 'Z' is zap
a yellow circle with a 'Z' is zap and record.

thanks kiddac for clearing that up it may of gone on a bit but i wanted to be clear on what i was asking
if i put a question up asking is this this and that that i more than likely would of not got a detailed reply like yours that explains it well
thanks for the icon list still unsure on the yellow arrows tho looks like a loop icon if you need a screen shot i will up one

cheers

You can also set Timers to repeat record. Whether daily, weekly, certain days etc. Your yellow icon is exactly that. It's a repeat icon.

Auto timers offer you much more control on how you want to set up all your repeats, series etc. Its a plugin designed to expand on the existing timer options. That's probably a better way of putting it.

so what i was thinking was correct

there is 2 types of recording that could be setup

the timer would be the old scool type where you set a recording like single , weekly at a set time and it will do as that and if the programme started 1 hr sooner then that would be tough

the auto timer would be more advanced as choosing a programme eg topgear the default setting would watch that channel and that title at 8pm but also look 1 hour before and after and if it popped up it would take action
like you say with loads of options to make custom amendments to it

i know it sounded a daft question and i wasnt sure if i was reading into it wrong but that clears it up 100%

am i right in saying that the timer over view is just a run-down of whats coming up to be recorded regardless of it timer or auto timer was used

thanks again

Yes exactly that. But you have to be careful with autotimer settings. It can be too clever. With a 1000 channels if not setup right it could record multiple channels all showing a similar thing. Worst case scenario. You decide you like friends so set up an autotimer for that. But if you don't specify which channels and approximately what time, it could record it on ch4 in the evening, ch4+1 later on, more4 at a different time etc etc. So just make sure you go through each setting and make sure you are not doing too wider birth.

thats what i did on my first setup on a autotimer on my first day i have car sos recorded about 6 times over 24 hrs and then noticed the settings for it that is one of the reason behind my questions so i fully understood what auto timers and timers meant
i think i hve done pretty well setting it up so far
been looking at the ts media maybe me but the layout looks very basic and badly set i use a raspberry pi 2 with kodi and play movies off my nas to that and also stream tv shows that are ahead in the states via kodi (genesis addon) but would be nice if kodi works on the vu duo2 do you know if thats possiable and stable i havent looked into yet

thanks for your help tho
