better way to record channels

i would a like a more simple way to record channels and series recording, its a nightmare wanting to record corrie it records everything conflicts when need another channel recorded.
simplicity something like sky boxes as if i pick autotimer and think great its all set for the week but the wifey <----honest.... goes to watch it its not there its set for following week same time.

is there a better plugin or ipk file around please.

only see this now lol,i use vix image and when i need to set a recording on say bbc1 hd go to that channel then press red button you should see epg of that channel scroll down to program,then green button check info of program [ yes correct ] green button to record.
3 minutes before start of program redlight comes on [ recording ] and goes off 4-5 mins after program stops .
you need to have epg setup correctly for recordings to work.
series timer you just change from once to weekly.
