so I've finally decided to go down the cable route but can't decide on a box I'm not looking for a budget box I want a higher spec box that can record something and watch another channel at the same time and must have a good epg.your help would be much appreciated

Go for an Vu+ Uno 4k or Solo SE V2 great boxes or as dangerous said the HD51, all down to what you want to spend. But there's a variety of great ones out there and many threads covering this.
