connecting ends to cables

how do you connect your plugs/connectors to the ends of your cable wires? when sky or virgin do it it seems like a solid, permanent, almost one piece connection but when you get your own plugs and connect to the cable wire it seems loose and shabby (mine seems that way anyway). how can you make your connection between cable wire and adaptor a professional finish, do you need certain tools?

You will also need a compression tool to connect them to
