epg updating

i have a vu duo2 running openvix 3.2
since i installed epg refresh i am having crashing issues at random i am not sure if its epg refresh but i have now removed it
i was using epg refresh to zap to channel PVR_EPG for 2 min every day to update the epg
what i have done for now is set a timer on daily repeat for 2am to zap to the channel 100 vm preview for 3 mins then switch back off

someone suggested a null recording but not sure what this is as dont want loads of recordings filling up

is doing what i have done sound ok or is there a better way to do this

if you using the EPG in vix all you need to do is set the crossepg section. Menu/Setup/ System/epg

setting

EPG location /media.hdd
epg filename epg

click ok

Crossepg.

Configure

enable csv import yes
Schedule download one a day
schedule down at 04.00
show as plugin yes
show as extra yes


Open Tv Providers.

Sky Uk opentv (astra2 on 28.2)

highlight it and press ok button to put a green tick to the right of it.

click Save.


Download Now.

Is this for the same duo 2 on 3.2 openvix night skin? How does the fake recording work does it still leave you a small recording each day and what channel do you use pvr epg?

I have duo 2 on night skin haven't found any recordings I don't think it actually records anything just makes the box think it is recording so it can use the channel it wants. I followed this guide to set it up and have had no crashing problems Using EPG Refresh plugin to download the epg off the stream

I used the same guide myself but set it to pip hidden rather than fake record it was suggested on another forum it maybe my auto timers and to turn them off do you use auto timers or the standard timer?

Have a few auto timers and use standard as well sometimes so can't see why that would make a difference
