FTP a line problem?

Want to ftp a line onto my mates box. He's sent me the IP but can't log in using FZ. Keeps timing out. My mate has a VM Hub.
Is it a firewall on his hub that's blocking the connection?
Anyone else had this issue?

ask him to restart the network, maybe the ip has changed

you wont be able to log into his network from your network unless he has opened the correct ports for you
would it not be easier to use Teamviewer ?
