Hard Drive Zgemma H4?

Does anyone know if there is an issue with Hard drives connecting to the USB port on a H4? I can only get it to recognise USB sticks…. Ive tried 3 different hard drives and 4 different types of connection?

Did you set the drive up on the box?

when I go into setup, system, there is no storage device option.... whereas if I use a memory stick there is..... so it doesn't recognise any of the HD's ive used.......

Are they externally powered, ?
Or powered via USB,?
Some zgemmas don't have enough power for some HDDs

can you format the drive to ext4 before putting it on the box?

found the problem.... had a faulty USB lead on the powered caddy....... and looks like the H4 isn't powerful enough to power it through USB.....

So where you trying to power a internal type drive from the USB?
Do they not all need power

I bought a caddy for the drive.... it supplies power via the usb

you need a powered caddy ideally,
that means one with a seperate power supply, not via USB
