Need help with splitter

I have just split my virgin media cable one to my router and one to cable box the picture now break up and when I go on internet the picture freezes I have done a speed test on my internet when it is not connected to the splitter and I get about 48 mb how can I correct this so that they both work together
 
Avoid cables that look like this too and only go for proper stuff - ideally with compression fittings as per pic above...

I also need a F Type Screw Connector Socket to RF Coax Aerial Male Adapter will the one I have do or will I need a better one
 
I have no box outside of the house but a white box inside and inside is a TV data isolator can this be replace this with my two way splitter or is this still needed
 
Usually splitters have isolation built into them so you should be fine - i've done it like this before.
 
There is one cable connected to the top that comes in from outside and a cable that is connected to the bottom that goes to my router and there is no more connecters available
