New box, newbie - Where do i start?

Just received my new box. I am a complete newbie to this. I see there are a few different downloads. i can see a march update in the threads, and two firmwares in the download section.
Do i need to do more than one update ie progressively or will what ever the latest one is be the only one i have to install.
I box is completely new. I just don't want to do anything wrong or unnecessary.

this is the latest firmware with the 9991 menu you will need for your c/s line

there are 2 files in this download you need to upload the larger of the 2 files on to you're box by USB, seen as you're box is new you won't need both files

Ok thank you. So I use the firmware in the guide. Do I upload the march firmware after the first one to get the 7 day epg. Also I was going to use a micro sd card in a usb card reader. Is this ok or are there any restrictions on what you can use in the usb port.
