No sound when watching films on pc

Hi,
Very much a newbie here. I recorded some movies on a memory stick from an openbox 8. Thought i would try to watch on a pc , i got the picture but no sound, when watching on openbox no problem ( yes i know the answer is to watch with openbox :) ), but just wondered why, again i am a newbie , any help woud be appriciated.

Your PC is missing the audio codes.

Download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack

If you are recording $ channels then trying to play them on a PC this happens with lots of boxes.

You can try Gman's codec but I don't think it's like using mp4, avi, mkv type files
when trying to use the files from sat/cable boxes.

Just to let people know, I downloaded k-lite like g-man said and all is well. thanks for advice

Have you tried VLC player, that usually plays most codecs.
