skoda octavia mk1 mileage needs adjustment

Some/have used software in past, back in 2007 on 02 golf
equipment/software avalible
vag-tacho-usb and a copy of obd I & II platinim 2006 edition
So basically i managed to correct mileage years ago on a 02 golf think i used vag-com (german edition so hard work to translste) pci208 1
this software is on my disc as mentioned above, also on disc is vag dash tool by gopel, may have used this i just cant recall now.
Have treid both on this skoda nothing with vag dash. and vag-com wont connect just says com 1 no connection ive treid 2.3.and 4 nothing
does anyone know a simple free program i can use, thought this would be easy seeing as the skoda is based on early vag group everything!
