Playing avi, mp4 etc - have to reboot

I have a S2 running VIX image. When I come to play a file that has not been recorded via the box I.e a AVI file the screen is black. To overcome this I have to reboot the box and then it works for a short time.

I tried with other images and still the same.

Have others come across this?
