Poor SD picture quality

Newbie
In trying to resolve a problem with the 7-day EPG disappearing I downloaded and flashed the latest official firmware from Blade Media (which I have never used before) and was surprised to find an improved SD picture quality. Not quite believing this I flashed back to Bee's July firmware and then back again to Blade's July firmware.

Is this technically possible and has anyone else had the same experience?

BTW the official Blade firmware now has the 7-day EPG.

I am lead to believe, they will both be the same firmware,
just someboby has modded the official one
so we get the 9991 option

Pack,

Where did you get the update please. Im relatively new to blade and my picture has been poor since I got this box oddly, so maybe the update will sort it somehow. Also, my epg is unsteady as well, even after manual updating and it is showing the epg 1 hour out.

Think your EPG will sort it's self out if you change your clock setting
to Summertime +1 hr.

Also, check your AV settings in the menu is 1080i or 1080p

You just go to blademedia.tv and click on support, BM5000s HD and download the firmware (full flash) and then update your box. Post back to let us know if your picture quality changes as a result.

Had a go, but not sure about picture improvement. Some do look a bit better others the same, but it could be that resetting the brightness etc has done any improvement, or maybe a trick of the mind :)

I cant access the 9991 menu anymore, so I will resort back to the last firmware. It was worth a shot, but I am unable to confirm for sure.

**forgot to add, I like the fact that that firmware only has youtube and no porn aps. Family friendly!

Yes it's difficult to measure any difference scientifically and it may depend on the TV. I tried re-playing an SD programme which I recorded under the 9991 version, using the official firmware and it was glitchy and then the box wouldn't respond without a reboot. Again not very scientific but it tends to suggest that something is different at the image level.
