Yes I am pretty sure you can use it but you will need
some leads to power it up and a USB conector to hook it up to
the box, something like this

Code:

(sorry forgot how to post a link !!)

Hi Pal

Make sure you format the drive correctly or it won't work, the software and guide is on the support page of the blade media website (I can't post links yet)

Ok thanks i have already formated the hdd is it fast enough to record its 7200rpm

I use a Laptop Hard drive on my blade, via a Caddy.

You can formatt the HDD in your PC/Laptop, or in the Blade.

First you'll need to formatt the HDD in your PC/Laptop, in FAT32 Format, any other format and it will not work, or the blade wont recognise it.

ok i took it out of my dead laptop and formatted it in my pc but dont no if its fat 32 will have to wait till i get my caddy i think

when you get your caddy, then connect it to your pc/laptop, then format in fat32. go to my computer and check on the properties of your caddy hdd, shud tell you if fat32 or ntfs

go to link bellow m8, and download the "fat32format.exe"
using this software you can format your hdd in fat32, and make use of the entire hdd. for example if your hdd has a capacity of 120GB, then you will be able to use that full capacity. There are afew other tools on the blade website that can be used.

Code:
http://www.blademedia.tv/bm7000ssupport.html#software

But dont use any of the FIRMWARE from the Blade website, cos they do not have the 9991 server option. Only use NON official firmware, if you want the 9991 server option

how will that caddy work with the blade it needs 2 usb ports and the blade only has 1:whacko:
also make sure the caddy can support the hdd storage size something like this with 1 usb

Code:

The caddys with 2 usb ports uses the extra usb port for more power if the drive can't draw enough power from just one usb port.

6 links coded, please remember when posting links to wrap them in the code box, button looks like this ---> #

I am aware them caddys have 2 usb leads/heads, but I have been using just single 1, on the 1 usb port on the blade, and it has been working great :-)
