Skybox and latest firmware and channels

I have a different rx for myself but got my son a skybox f3 i have a couple of questions
the latest firmware on here should i update it,the firmware does not say what it does
also on the channels list there is a lot of crap channels i dont want can you delete them

Menu - Channel edit - then select the ones you want to delete and then choose the red X to delete them.

If its working fine i would leave the firmware alone
