Spinning blue circle whenever clicking "add timer"

I have wooshbuild v3.03 installed.
Whenever I go to the epg and click on record button, then highlight and select number 2 "add timer" it just shows a spinning blue circle in the top left hand corner and causes all buttons on the remote control to stop working.
The channel in the small preview screen works fine, but after 10 minutes the spinning blue circle is still there and the only way to stop it is to pull the power lead to the box and reboot it.
What am I doing wrong here!?!
 
box is under stress with too many things loaded and maybe down on memory,have you got a powered externally hdd?
 
My box is suffering with this too and, yes, I have got a powered external HDD

Did you manage to sort the problem?
 
I had this problem but sorted it after some good advice from here. First I initialised the hd an then went though all the system settings an set everything to save on the hd cleared memory cache rebooted box an touch wood it's not happened since
