Starview 7 remote used with Starview HD combo

seen as an original starview HD combo remote is impossible to find i have started looking for alternatives and see a lot of listings on ebay that state that the starview 6 and 7 remotes work with the starview HD combo (minus PVR function). however i have found this not to be the case i have tried with a starview 7 remote on the SVHD combo and gets no response at all. i have checked that the remote is working and batteries are fine. SVHD is working fine with original remote.

does anyone have a SVHD combo working with a starview 6 or 7 remote and is there anything else i need to do to configure it to work.
