Tired of things not working/not knowing what to do. Any good comprehensive guide?

I'm tired of things not working. I need a newbie guide.

My EPG never works properly. It seems to work on some channels but not on others. I try downloading/configuring etc. in CrossEPG and that doesn't help, sometimes it freezes the whole thing. I've read about the EPG path being important, well I've searched and searched and can't even find the path in dark hole.

When I used to turn on TSMedia before, about half of the things there worked sometimes. Now NOTHING works, I've updated the entire thing multiple times. The only thing I won't update is Dark Hole itself because the last time I tried that the entire box bricked and I had to send it back to the manufacturer.

It would be a great if TSMedia worked. It's a ridiculous waste of time going into all these things and they don't work at all, may as well just get it online somewhere.

Many times the recording has been unreliable. Sometimes the channel freezes for no apparent reason. Sometimes the whole box freezes.

Is it an original box or clone ?
If you are new to this I would use vix not black hole.

And use xbmc not TS media
 
I was having terrible problems setting my VU+ Solo 2 SE up, but after nearly a week of trying various combinations, i've finally got it all running smoothly, you haven't really given enough info on your setup, but from the description of the problems you've been having with glitching i had the same thing, so 1st things 1st, please provide a rundown of what mgcamd & CCcam you are running, and what line i.e. c-line or n-line and also can you copy and paste the contents of your mg_cfg file which is located /usr/keys/ this file is the main thing to fix lots of problems once set up correctly, for those who want to know, i took off mgcamd 1.38 all together, and replaced with 1.35, and my mg_cfg file has the following settings

I'm running vix (latest) and have got xbmc, tsmedia, IPTV, OnDemand, OpenWebif (great for making custom bouquets) and a few other plugins, 500GB internal HD, two Sat' dishes Astra & Hotbird into two 3 way DiSEqC switches, and all is now running sweet as a nut :)

You still haven't provided any info on your setup,

1. What reciever are you using (i.e. vu+ solo, duo, solo 2, solo 2 se ect ect twin or single)
2. What image and version are you using (blackhole, vix ect ect)
3. Do you have a c-line or n-line
4. What satellites is your dish or dishes pointing at
 
Hey i'm willing to help you get your setup running smoothely as long as it takes, but if your not bothered to supply simple info thats your issue, giving up is too easy and after all, it's all down to getting the settings right, just saying "forget it" is pretty lame after you've asked for help, i can't help you unless i know what you have can i ........
 
he probably has a clone as this original box rocks when setup correctly and using new images.

newer images on vix on the download plugins -softcams is where you get your cams 1.38 mgcamd for nlines, or 2.3.0 cccam for clines.plenty of newer tuts on forum with info.

True, my favourite atm is on my new LED smart tv, i installed the sat' tv tuner, then share the second input on the box, so i can watch all the channels in two rooms, whilst the box is hooked up to my network, that and linking my two pc towers h/d contents to the network aswell, i'm in danger of becoming housebound with so much to watch & listen to :)
