Type of external hardrive for lx2?

Hi

im looking to invest in a new 1-2tb external harddrive for my lx2 and just wanted to know if the mains powered or USB powered would be best suited for lx2?

and does it matter the if external hardrive is a 2.0 or 3.0 ?

I can't find the post but I read on this forum that a USB powered hardrive can put a lot strain on the boxes fan or something, is that why you have chosen and would recommend an externally mains powered one?

yes the portable ones put more strain on the usb port which could fail,in using a powered external hdd much less strain on usb port.
portable will work but its in the long run of use both could fail.
