hello
do I need to setup the swapfile to usb like when installing a new image on a mutant hd51?
I'll be installing openvix with 1 sat 1 cable tuner
The box has a hdd installed inside and remember people saying you shouldn't have a swapfile on hdd only usb

do you need a swapfile on such a power box

OK
there is a lot of debate about this,
a lot of people that know a lot more about these boxes than me say you dont need a swapfile,
but, as a daily Linux user on all my PCs I see no good reason not to have a swapfile,
I currently have 2 boxes, an Edision twin sat, and an F1 twin sat cable combo, and have a swapfile on both set up to use my EPG usb/SD card, respectively
I dont see any disadvantage to using a swapfile
it merely takes a bit of strain off your RAM if required

Only one way to find out.

Run it with a swap file
Then run without

Personally I wouldn't use one as the mutant HD51 is no zgemma [emoji23]

If there is plenty of ram on the device you don't need a swap file.
The general consensus on another forum is that it can actually slow the receiver down.
I'm no expert but I assume that this is because the system is copying data to a device that is slower than your physical ram.

I think, VU`s [ duos ] ..... [ dont quote my on that ] were the one box that needed it, but most boxes nowadays have plenty of ram...
