Hi Guys,

I am looking around for a front speed sensor for a VW Sharan 1.9TDI 2001

It's exactly like this

$T2eC16dHJF8E9nnC8HljBQEz448UIQ~~60_12.JPG

I need 2 of these and the cheapest i have found for one is £57.60

HERE

Anyone know where i can find it cheaper? Or is that just the price range of it?

Thanks in advance.

are you sure this is your problem.both sensors going bad at the same time is highly unlikely.what are your symptoms?is your abs lite on?what codes are you getting.if you have access to an abs capable scanner you can test them in vehicle.

The ABS light keeps flashing - dad took it for a check and they said the front 2 ABS sensors need replacing - I forgot what the fault code was - sorry if ive been vague - not a specialist when it comes to cars - just glad I don't own one lol

where you driving in the mud again lol,if they are dirty sometimes removing and cleaning the tip of sensor and joint may fix the problem then clear the faults.

any ones i see only carry the abs sensor but yours it seems has the brake warning light circuit,is that on both sides? as normally 1 side has no brake warning sensor.

I imagine try are on both sides - ill try giving it a clean see if that does the trick

You can tell I'm hopeless with cars haha give me a bike any day

sometimes the same part can be on seat Alhambra, ford galaxy, sometimes one dealers price varies and all in the same bag.lol

I was discussing with my dad that surely you dont need the one pictured in my first post - you either need a single one or two single ones for the front left and right.

Turns out i was right :)

Just need to get in touch with VW and confirm the part number then grab one off eBay I've seen relatively good priced for me :)

yes single cables ones i found were cheaper.

Yep that one I've seen - i saw one for £25 - that one just looked very cheap in quality as well.

Anyway lets see what happens now during the week. Flaming cars and their servicing eh! lol

if all they did was read the codes with no testing be careful.just because the code says something like rf speed sensor no signal doesnt mean necessarily that the rf speed sensor is at fault.codes lead you in the right direction but are no substitute for a proper diagnosis.im curious now.post back with the results.Al

i hope you are using a good oil,

Yes good oil is being used :) Dad wont have any dodgy oil in the car resulting in further damage.

Al i understand what you are saying - we dont go to many others for car servicing and fault finding, the person we went to are close within the community and trusted. So there aint no chance of him being fishy with us, if he ever did he knows he would get a good kick in from his family and then me :)

I'll let you know how we get on :)

ive pulled wrenches for 35 years and it never ceases to piss me off when i hear about shops ripping people off.gives us all a bad name.i particularly love all the weird models you guys have over there.im in canada.lol

it's a flaming headache Al - at times it comes down to whether you should fix your car or pay the house bills or pay for your kids to eat - sick of it! Just glad i dont own a vehicle.

Going to take the car tomorrow to VW and try getting the part number so i can shop around and get the part myself and not let someone else order the most expensive one out there lol

good luck.Al

I went this morning to VW and they said we cant give you the part number as that would mean VW giving away business! Well for £86 + VAT i will be going elsewhere the cheeky shite!

I understand what he said but ripping off someone in the process is not on!

Only way he said you can get the part number is to actually take the part out and look on it to see if there is a number of some sorts. Very helpful indeed!

In the process i will give it a clean like cactikid suggested clean it and put it back in to see if it works. After all its Xmas - could do with the festive good luck :)

one good thing is the brakes will function just fine, you just wont have antilock, and man used to get along fine without it back in the dark ages.
